Yeah, I've used both as well. The interiors, IMO, for RLO, are almost depressingly dark, especially the player homes. I didn't have a problem with the darkness of dungeons and dwemer ruins, but sheesh, I'd like Breezehome to not be like a monestary. Proudspire was the worst though. So far, ELFX looks a bit more reasonable in the interior lighting department and dungeons are still creepy, although not as much so as with RLO.

Enhanced Lights And Fx Too Dark

Nov 18, 2012  Enhanced Lights and FX has the goal to create a more dramatic and realistic mood to the Skyrim lights by adding lights to all light sources and removing any light without a source, as well as the addition many more effects like smoke, volumic lights, driples, etc.Makes all not inhabited by humans really dark. ELFX - Exteriors.esp. A lot of this video was shot in darkness and the rendering process often made such scenes too dark in video. So I had to brighten those scenes a little just for the video to try and approximate what I actually saw when in game. Skyrim Mod Sanctuary 52: Enhanced Lights and FX. May 15, 2015. Realistic Lighting Overhaul, Enhanced Lights. What are the best skyrim mods? -Enhanced lights and FX. I complained about that ENB earlier being too dark because it goes to the extreme, even with a torch or near lights almost every.

Ultimate Skyrim Too Dark

I have the quartet of moddy goodness.COTCOT weather patchELFXRealvision enbI'm very pleased with how my game looks. Though I will say a bad rainstorm or fog will make my computer cry a bit, especially when I try to sprint my horse. If I slow him down, it's ok.

Since I don't use CoT, I really, really don't like CoT, actually, I don't like any of JJC71's weather mods, for Skyrim, FO3 and FNV, his mods are just, how can I say, oversaturated, but that's just my opinion, anyway, I also tried ELFX, used for one playthrough but I didn't liked too much, so I removed and went back to RLO + URWL and used this combination for a long time, but since the release of Pure Weather, I've been using RLO + PW Realistic, and it's by far the best combination that I've used so far!!! Sorry to revive this post, but I just wanted to stick in some of my inputI have used both RLO and ELFX with CoT for quite some time now. What I find is that RLO is more immersive in the sense that light goes where light should reasonably go. A building without many skylights, interior lights, and windows is going to be VERY dark- but a building with those things is going to be much lighter. I also find that buildings with windows and skylights are much much brighter during the day than the night- a nice little touch for thief characters such as the one I'm playing now when you're breaking into homes, as it gives you a sense that you're not supposed to be in the home at this time.

However, by the end of my play session, I had to give my eyes a little rest- not because I had been playing a long time, but because I was squinting for hours on end at my computer screen. RLO is realistic- but literally painfully so. Turning up my brightness seemed to alleviate the issue slightly, btw.On the other hand, ELFX looks much prettier. Interiors with fires feel warm, and the candle smoke from candles gives a nice cozy atmosphere to inns that I don't feel with RLO (mostly because there aren't enough light sources, which makes interiors dark and cold).

Enhanced Lights And Fx Sse

I notice there is a LOT more ambient light with ELFX (not as much as vanilla however), which gives ELFX a more artificial, but pretty, feel. Personally, I prefer not having to take out my torch whilst trying to find my room in an inn, so I like ELFX more than RLO.All in all, it's a matter of how realistic you want your Skyrim to look. RLO is the more realistic, whilst ELFX is the less realistic. If you want to feel like you're in the world, do RLO. But if you want a prettier Skyrim, do ELFX. 'Just tried ELFX, it's awesome but once I get into a cave, it's way too dark without a touch.' That's the point.

I've used ELFX for a long time and I like it. Haven't tried the other, but ELFX makes dark areas dark and forces light sources to actually function properly. It also removes a lot of the ambient light that seems to come from nowhere in Skyrim. To combat the darkness, I use the Wearable Lantern's mod from Chesko. You can buy oil for it, turn it off while you're sneaking, and even drop it while it's lit.
